FIRST off: Stop that violence scenario setting.

If congressman Rolando “Klarex” Uy is what his political enemies project him to be, there should have been a shoot-out in barangay Pagatpat last November 11.

But no, Roland Sherwin “Tawee” Uy, his eldest son, was in the company of a 73-year-old man and a driver too afraid to get out of the comfort room as the assassins barged it.

Rolando “Klarex” Uy has earned the reputation of being a strong leader. Yes, he is, and a courageous one.

They stereotype Klarex with a former political kingpin who roams around in an entourage of trucks with automatic rifles carrying bodyguards in tow, because as a barangay Captain of Carmen then, he had the courage to run against his former political boss in 2010. But Klarex Uy is not like that. The last time I saw him, his aide carried a tumbler of a known food supplement.

In the 2010 elections, he lost in a controversial fashion to Dongkoy Emano by a little over 2,000 votes. Remember the basurahan CF Cards?

To reinforce the stereotype they spun on the congressman, they made stories connecting him to a notorious group from Ozamiz, Misamis Occidental. His only fault, he immigrated to CDO from Bonifacio, Misamis Oriental – a rustic coastal town. This reference has in fact earned the ire of peace-loving Ozamiznons.

In a press conference at the wake-side the fallen alderman of barangay Carmen last Tuesday, Councilor Enrico Salcedo, the designated spokesperson of congressman Klarex Uy sounded alarm bells on the violent scenario setting being hatched by the political opponents of the Uys. Salcedo stopped short naming the politician they believe to be behind this violent scenario setting.

Congressman Klarex is indubitably the man to beat to take the helms of City Hall. Mayor Oca Moreno’s heir apparent. His political opponents are already desperate this early in the game.

His political opponents, especially Pompee Lavina again spun the Ozamiz connection of the Uys, especially after a dud grenade attack on the ancestral home of 2nd district congressman Rufus Rodriguez. The police investigation found out the grenade was a dud. The crime scene was contaminated as the security guard picked up the hand grenade purportedly thrown from outside the highly-fenced residential compound. I have thought, the police should have charged that poor SG with illegal possession of explosives, only that to begin with, the thing was a dud.

Whoever wrote that script had Charlie Chaplin giggling in his grave.

Then came the enabler Councilor Zaldy Ocon with his supposed drugs list. After being confronted by his colleagues in City Council about his list, the councilor who packages himself as a tough guy, unafraid of anything only faced them virtually.
On Wednesday, the City Council will reconvene to investigate his list. I hope he shows up.

Laying the predicate of his flight, in one of his radio programs last Tuesday, Ocon has concocted a new lie. He claims to be fearing for dear life because the gentle congressman Klarex wants him dead.

Councilor Salcedo rightfully asked, “Will he stage an AMBUSH ME part 2?”
A thing he did years ago.

If there is anything that the Bible-quoting councilor, should be afraid of, it is eternal damnation.

I will continue calling out on Ocon, who I admit is a friend, because the scenario of violence being set up and which he obviously is enabling through the airwaves is too dangerous and alarming for peace-loving Cagayanons and Misamisnons. And this concern goes beyond friendship.
