THE 2,000-square meter lot donation intended for the construction of the multi-purpose evacuation center and gymnasium building project located at Barangay Mintabon in Talisayan in the eastern part of Misamis Oriental has been opposed by the allies of Congresswoman Juliette Uy in the Sangguniang Bayan of this town during its recent regular session.

Municipal Councilor Catherine Go Ifurung owned the said lot and donated it for the construction of said project amounting to P50 million, a grant from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor).

Councilor Andres Llagas a vice mayoral bet of Congresswoman Uy in this town questioning the lot donation and opposed it without a valid reason.

Councilor Ciriaco Talines a mayoral bet also of Congresswoman Uy said “we should first conduct an inspection before accepting the donation kay basin naa nas pangpang.”

In an interview, Councilor Ifurung said she owned that lot legally.

Akin yan bakit e question pa ni Llagas yan,” Ifurung said.

Mayor Rommel Maslog said Talisayan is one of two grant recipients of Pagcor in the region including Cagayan de Oro with the same type of project.

Ang gikinahanglan lang ani nga dunay luna nga katukuran ang maong proyekto isip counter part sa LGU ngadto sa Pagcor,” said Maslog.

Ifurung, a former town mayor, explained that she is eager to donate the area because it’s the only area and a very strategic place for the construction of a multi-million worth evacuation center.

“Pagcor giving us a favor a big opportunity to all Talisaynon having that project,” said Ifurung.

The Talisayan government has no available lot for now for that purpose, Ifurung added.

Kaya personal akong nag dodonate kasi merun akong property na pwedeng pwede at strategic place para sa multipurpose evacuation building or gym project ng Pagcor,” Ifurung said.
