TALISAYAN Mayor Ciriaco Talines has called on residents, especially those living along the coastal areas of Talisayan town in eastern Misamis Oriental, to prepare for the possibility of Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong) making landfall soon, which could create a storm surge.
Talines urged immediate action, saying, “We should not wait for the preemptive evacuation order to be issued. We should evacuate to evacuation centers, even before the preemptive evacuation order is issued.”

The mayor noted that more than 1,000 individuals were forcibly evacuated during the previous weather disturbance, Typhoon Tino.
Talisayan has 11 coastal barangays vulnerable to a storm surge: Mintabon, Poblacion, San Jose, Calamcam, Tagbocboc, Putting Balas, Pangpangon, Po-ok, Sta. Ines, Punta Santiago and Mandahilag.
