By NORA SORIÑO GSD-Iligan Bureau chief ILIGAN City--Supporters of detained Mayor Celso Regencia vowed to continue blocking the entrance to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in Tipanoy, this city, to prevent efforts to transfer the local chief executive to a Bicutan prison before the Aug. 17 hearing of his case. On Friday, they succeeded in thwarting efforts to bring Regencia to Metro Manila, days ahead of the scheduled court hearing on Wednesday at the 77th branch 77 of the Regional Trial Court, Quezon City. Regencia supporter Mar Bado called for more residents to troop to the Tipanoy prison. Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz and some councilors came and joined in the human barricade outside the city jail. Regencia has been accused of masterminding the ambush of the convoy of former Iligan Rep. Vicente Belmonte Jr. near the Laguindingan airport in Misamis Oriental in 2014.
