GINGOOG City – Authorities arrested a private security guard for alleged possession of illegal drugs during a raid in Purok-4, Barangay 20 on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 4.
Police Lt. Col. Dennis G. de los Santos, Gingoog Chief of Police, identified the suspect as Rhandy C. Calo, 36. Calo works as a security guard for a construction company currently handling a flood control project in the barangay.
Operatives apprehended Calo at his residence while executing Search Warrant No. 50-2025, issued by Executive Judge Mirabeaus A. Undalok of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 43.
During the search, police recovered eight rectangular heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu and a coin purse. The confiscated drugs weighed approximately 0.86 grams with an estimated street value of P5,848.
Calo is currently detained at the Gingoog City Police Station custodial facility. He faces charges for violation of Section 11 (Illegal Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Following the arrest, Barangay Kagawad Armand Mamba, chairman of the Committee on Peace and Order for Barangay 20, issued a stern warning to those still involved in the illegal drug trade.
Mamba urged them to stop immediately, warning that authorities will eventually catch up to anyone who refuses to give up the illegal habit.
