ORGANIZERS of Robredo Sara movement rejected the idea that Vice President Ma. Leonor ‘Leni’ Robredo would be destabilized by allies of Davao Mayor Sara Duterte once she is elected.
Representatives Joey Climaco (2nd district, Albay), Rufus Rodriguez (2nd district, Cagayan de Oro), and Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle ‘Beng’ Climaco gave their assurances that Robredo would not be impeached adding that the Philippine Constitution would not allow this to happen.
“Our Constitution has set the grounds for impeaching a President and it is not easy to oust a seating president,” Rodriguez said.
Saceda said Duterte would unlikely lead a plot to oust Robredo because she could have been a shoo-in for the presidency if she decided to run given that her father is the seating president.
“It is not her nature. She could have been the front runner if she had decided to run,” Saceda said.
For her part, Climaco said she trust being a woman, Robredo and Duterte could work together as a team.
Saceda, Rodriguez, and Climaco held a press conference here today to launch the RoSa movement that seeks votes and support for Robredo and Duterte.
Rodriguez said he had informed Senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. of their decision to support Robredo and not him.
“He was not hurt by our decision,” he said.
Saceda said he did not feel any guilt since he never supported Marcos in the first place.
Climaco said she too is not guilty since she and Robredo had been friends since both were members of the 16th Congress.
A rally to support Robredo and Duterte was held in the same area where Vice President Robredo held hers in Divisoria, Cagayan de Oro last month.
But the crowd of supporters failed to match that of Robredo. An estimated 1,000 plus attended the “RoSa Rally.”
