A prosecutor once confronted an accused man, asking: “You say you’re a peace-loving person. But why did you throw this big stone at the victim?”
The accused replied: “Yes, I’m a peace-loving man. You see, after I threw that huge stone on him, he became as peaceful as ever!”
I suspect that is Senator Bato dela Rosa’s idea of peace. It aligns with the “kill, kill, kill” strategy. After the “kill” — not with rocks, but with bullets targeting those on the margins of society suspected of drug involvement — there is indeed a form of peace. It is the peace of the cemetery.
With Bato at his best — or rather, his worst — during those times, one wonders: Will he be flown to The Hague to face trial before the International Criminal Court (ICC), much like his idol? It is a valid question.
There is unconfirmed talk that Bato is next in line. Consequently, he has gone into “invisible mode.” He has been effectively in hiding, absent from Senate sessions since early November.
