A senator and the city mayor are offering P100,000 each as a reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the death of an eight-year-old girl found earlier this month.
Former city councilor Roy Openiano announced on a local radio program Tuesday that Sen. Raffy Tulfo and Mayor Frederick Siao have pledged the reward, totaling P200,000.
The girl, a resident of Purok 13, Barangay Buru-un, was reported missing by her family on June 5. According to Police Maj. Zandrex Panolong, the city police spokesperson, the girl had asked permission to visit her godfather nearby with a friend. The two reportedly went swimming in a creek, but she never returned home.
On June 9, the girl’s body was found near a rock in the creek in an advanced state of decomposition. Some of her clothing was reportedly torn, Panolong said in an earlier statement.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and the reward is intended to encourage witnesses to come forward with credible leads.
