GINGOOG City — Police have arrested the Top 6 Regional Most Wanted suspect facing rape charges, bringing authorities a step closer to delivering justice for a minor victim.
The suspect was arrested Wednesday afternoon in a joint law enforcement operation in Gingoog City, according to Gingoog City Police Chief Leiutenant Col. Dennis G. de los Santos.
Police said the suspect is the alleged stepfather of the minor victim.
Authorities served warrants of arrest for qualified rape of a minor and rape through sexual assault, both allegedly committed in Gingoog City.
The operation was carried out by the Gingoog City Police Station's Tracker Team, with support from the Regional Intelligence Division, the Intelligence and Detective Management Division of Police Regional Office 10, and the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office.
Police withheld the suspect's identity, as well as details of the alleged crimes, to protect the privacy of the minor victim in accordance with the law.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Gingoog City Police Station while awaiting court proceedings.
