By SHIELA MAE BUTLIG Correspondent A FORMER barangay chairman accused of raping his underaged worker has asked the City Prosecutor’s Office to dismiss the complaint against him, claiming it was a case of misidentification. The suspect, former Taglimao chairman William Guialani, said a police blotter showed that the subject of the complaint of the 17-year old worker was his son. He pointed out that the complainant identified him in the police blotter as “William Guialani Jr.” instead of “William Guialani Sr.” He said that while he has a child named “William Guialani Jr.,” he doubted that his son was capable of committing the crime. “I don’t think my son will do this,” he said. Guialani also pointed out what he said were seeming inconsistencies in the police blotter, and the complainant’s April 22, 2015 sworn statement, and July 19, 2015 sworn statement. He said that in the police blotter, the complainant claimed that her buttocks were squeezed but in the April 22 sworn statement, the teenager alleged that her genitalia was squeezed. But in the June 19 sworn statement, Guialani said, the complainant claimed that her abuser inserted a finger into her sexual organ. “It is crystal clear that the complainant consciously asserted falsehood on material points,” Guialani said. He claimed there was a “deliberate perversion of truth,” and there were “inconsistencies and falsities.” He appealed to prosecutors to outrightly dismiss the complaint for insufficiency of evidence and lack of probable of cause. Guialani also alleged that the complaint was “politically motivated to discredit my very person and to weaken my plunder cases against Oscar Moreno.” The ex-barangay chairman has filed a string of graft complaints against Mayor Moreno before the ombudsman. He said he has also taken note that the complainant’s lawyer, Jonathan Pacuribot, is one of city hall’s consultants. Incidentally, Guialani’s lawyer is Councilor Leon Gan, one of Moreno’s political enemies.
