HAVING long been known to induce tears when sliced, red onions or shallots may now give Oro consumers a new reason to cry, as prices have sky-rocketed over the past days.
A quick tour around Cogon Public Market shows prices to range from P330 to as high as P400 per kilo, causing some patrons to grumble at the sellers.
“Mahal man among pag kompra, sir. Mao na ma pugos ra pud mig presyo og in-ana. Gamay naman lang gani among ginansya para lang pud na mahalin pa,” said Ester, one of the market vendors.
A senior citizen browsing through the different-priced displays purchased from those priced at P330.
“Wala naman ‘ta mabuhat sa presyo, oy,” she said.
Other patrons still found humor in the situation, however, with one declaring that he will have to cook his meals differently.
“Hala, sige! Asinan na lang nako ang karne dayon sugbahon,” he laughingly declared.
