MAYORAL wannabe Jose Gabrielle ‘Pompee’ La Viña filed his Certificate of Candidacy for city mayor via substitution before the City Commission on Elections Office at around 10 am today. This is his second attempt.

He substituted Atty. Florentino Dumlao of Lakas-CMD. Dumlao withdrew his CoC today at 8:35 am. Lakas-CMD is one of the coalition member-party of Padayon Pilipino, Centrist Democratic Party, and Bagong Cagayan de Oro Movement.

Armed with drums and tarpaulins some La Viña supporters dance in front of City Comelec's office while waiting for their mayoral bet. La Viña arrived at the Comelec at around 10 am.

According to Dumlao, it was their party (Lakas CMD) that convinced La Viña to be their mayoral bet.

“Amo s’yang gihangyo nga mudagan,” Dumlao said.

Present in Comelec to show their support was 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez and City Councilor Lordan Suan, both are the party's congressional bet.

During La Viña's press conference, he revealed that they have canceled some schedule pertaining to his filing today as he sympathised to 1st District Rep. Rolando Uy’s loss as his son, Sherwin Uy, was killed yesterday in Pagatpat.

“Akong gipaabot akong pahasubo sa pamilya ni Congressman Klarex Uy. Dili ‘ta malipay sa nahitabo. Atong isalig sa mga awtoridad para madakpan gyud kung kinsa ang responsable niana,” said La Viña.

He said that he talked with his team about whether they will file the CoC today or not because of what happened to Uy’s son yesterday.

“Among desisyon is padayon lang ‘ta pero sensitibo lang ta,” he said.

Meanwhile, La Viña emphasized that he chose Lakas-CMD since it is a national party that will also help city residents in the future.

He said he envisions enough supply of water for Cagayan de Oro City, the building of a city university, the focus on the market vendors and jeepney drivers in Cogon Market.

Aside from that he also gives emphasis to the proper distribution of cash assistance during pandemic and to help lessen the spread of Covid-19.

La Viña believes that he is the solution.

“Ako adunay capacity maghatag posible ug solusyon. You think na sa ako, tan aw lang sa akong kagikan, akong experyensa sa kinabuhi, akong pagkalumad nga Cagay-anon. Bisan pa siguro akong utok muingon nga dinhi ta sa wala, kinabuhi nga ayahay. Pero akong kasong-kasing paingon gyud sa tao. Ang silbihan ang Cagay-anon,” La Viña said.
