CAGAYAN de Oro mayoralty candidate Jose Gabrielle ‘Pompee’ La Viña is taking building a school literally saying he will dig up the earth to lay the foundation himself for his dream “city university.”

Nangante si PDP-CDP-Bag ong Cagayan coalition lider Pompee La Viña nga bisan moapil pa kini’g kalot sa yuta aron matukoran sa city university nga libre para sa tanan,” his press release, sent to reporters yesterday, reads in part.

The proposed city university is one of La Viña’s dream projects when he announced his candidacy for city mayor late last year.

In his radio program, La Viña promised that he is willing to help once the city university will be built. This is to help parents of students who find it hard to pay for college fees because students will not have to pay for tuition.

Aside from a city university, La Viña also plans the bring back the city “night café” only this time it will be beside the Cagayan River.

Napanglantaw sa opisyal nga pinaagi sa riverside night cafe, sayun na alang sa mga Kagay-anon ang pagpamalit tungod kay pwede mang i-display ang mga abot sa kaigsoonan gikan sa kabukiran,” he said.

La Viña believes the riverside night cafe will help boost the tourism industry of the city. It will also help rehabilitate the river and will probably help the economic growth of the city.

When asked by this paper if this riverside night cafe will still be possible even with the pandemic, he replied that Covid-19 will soon be gone “as long as we will just abide by science.”

“Covid will not be forever. And kaya pud na sa new normal basta science atong sundon,” he said.
