A member of Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) is in hot water after he allegedly held his own neighbor at gun point and mauled him along Sitio Macanhan Creekside, Baran-gay Carmen on Sunday afternoon.
In his police blotter at Carmen police station, a certain Dennis Sumanpan, 32, claimed that he was mauled and held at gun pointed by PO2 Brian Pelenio.
He claimed that while hen was walking home along with his wife and son from a birthday party, they passed by a police officer together with friends identified only by the names as Proktoy and JM.
He said his attention was called by Proktoy to go near them but the alleged police officer went inside their home and took his service firearm and pointed the gun at him.
“Paghuman niya og ti-on sa pistola kay iya dayun ko nga gikulata. Wala siya’y istorya,” he added.
Sumanpan said he was brought to their residence because he lost consciousness after the mauling incident.
“Wala sila kalihok akong mga amigo kay polis daw ang suspect,” he added.
After the incident, they only identified the suspected police officer as PO3 Brian Pelenio who was assigned at the Cocpo headquarter in Barangay Carmen, this city.
Sumanpan said he would seek assistance from the Cocpo city police director Senior Supt. Ronnie Francis Cariaga in filing administrative and criminal charges against Pelenio before the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) at Police Regional Office – 10 headquarter in Camp Alagar, Barangay Lapasan.
In another development, a member of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID-PA) was arrested by the police after he was allegedly accused of mauling a civilian along Corrales Extension, this city on Wednesday evening.
Police identified the soldier as Sgt. Dale Mark Ortega, a resident of Brgy 32 and was presently assigned at 8th IB inside 403rd Battalion stationed at Malaybalay City, Bukidnon province.
Ortega was accused by a certain Julius Sorima, 27, and a resident in Barangay Iponan.
Ortega denied mauling Sorima and claimed that he only smash the complainant with the use of his helmet during the heated argument.
He claimed that he only wanted to pacify Sorima’s heated argument to other guy while getting his son in the area.
He claimed that his son who is studying in a nearby elementary school could attest to his claim.
