BALINGASAG, Misamis Oriental -- Police identified suspects in the brutal killing of Parasat worker Argie Tresquio even as they submitted a list to the Sangguniang Bayan yesterday morning.
This town’s chief of police Maj. Cecilio Orcullo said his office has submitted five names upon the request of Councilor Cristina Teresa Ociones, the town council’s temporary presiding officer.
Orcullo said they were able to get the names after arresting one of the suspects last Thursday. He identified the suspect as Fausto Lungino, a resident of Barangay Kauswagan in Lagonglong.
He said Lungino gave the names of the other suspects: Roel Cocoy Sabaldana, Econ Baroro, RR Cañete Mepranom (a guard of Bria Homes in Balingasag), and Kevin Gomez. Aside from Lungino, Orcullo said, all four suspects are still at large.
Lungino was scehduled for inquest proceedings before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Cagayan de Oro yesterday.
Last Monday, a close-circuit television caught the suspects brutally killing 28-year-old Tresquio at corner 15th de Septiembre and Varquez Sts, Barangay 1, here.
The suspects took turns in mauling Tresquio and one suspect finished him off by smashing a hollow block filled with concrete twice to his head. Tresquio was rushed to a local hospital here and was transferred to Northern Mindanao Medical Center where he was declared dead by physicians.
