By Nitz Arancon TWO men, allegedly armed and suspected of being carnappers, were killed during a shootout in Sitio Sihayon, Barangay Sta. Cruz, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, on Monday night. Tagoloan police chief Albart Tare identified the suspects as Ariel Ucat and Jomar Sarongon, both of Sitio Cala-Cala, Barangay Cogon, Balingasag town in Misamis Oriental. Tare said police officers, who received  a report about armed men, were patrolling the barangay when Ucat and Sarongon allegedly fired shots at them at around 10:35 pm. He said the officers fired back, and hit the suspects. The suspects were rushed to the Polymedic Hospital in Tagoloan but were pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physicians. Tare said police found out later that the two men were wanted by authorities because of their alleged links to carnapping. Ucat’s common law wife Christine Lansaderas said she was unaware of her partner’s alleged links to carnapping, adding that the man was merely a trisikad driver in Balingasag. Ucat left behind two children, aged three and two. Lansaderas said she last saw Ucat at around 7 pm on Monday. “Ang ingon lang niya gabi-e sa  ako, nga maghatud daw siya sa asawa sa iyang amigo nga si Jomar sa Tagoloan,” she said. (nitz arancon)
