THE Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 10 and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will deploy a total of 12,000 uniformed personnel in preparation for the May 12 national and local elections, according to PNP 10 Regional Spokesperson PMaj. Joann Navarro.
Of the 12,000 personnel, 9,000 are from the PNP, and 3,000 are from the AFP. Their deployment began on May 7.
The initial deployment focuses on assisting with the delivery of Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) to clustered precincts throughout the region, which took place on May 7.
In Gingoog City, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) distributed 142 ACMs at the Arturo S. Lugod Gym to 79 barangays. The distribution was supervised by local Election Officer Atty. Margie Lustre-Luma-ad. Gingoog City has a total of 142 clustered precincts from 534 total precincts, with 96,058 registered voters.
A total of 710 teachers, comprising Electoral Boards (EB) and DepEd Supervising Officials (DESOs), have been deployed to the 142 precincts in the city. According to Edgardo Abanil, DepEd Gingoog District Superintendent, three teachers serve as EB members and two as DESOs per clustered precinct, bringing the total to 426 Electoral Boards and 284 DESOs.
PLt. Col. Dennis G. de los Santos, Gingoog’s Chief of Police, stated that two police officers are assigned to each clustered precinct to assist in the transport of ACMs.
