TOMORROW marks the final opportunity for property owners in Cagayan de Oro to secure a 20% discount on their Real Property Tax (RPT) for 2026.
The City Finance Department reminded taxpayers that the window for advance full payment closes tomorrow, Dec. 31. Payments made after the cutoff will no longer be eligible for the incentives outlined in the 2015 Revenue Code.

Higher brackets: Discounts range from 14% down to 7% for properties assessed above P500,000.

Penalties Start Jan. 1 Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy, who previously directed extended operating hours to accommodate the influx, emphasized the importance of beating the deadline to avoid unnecessary costs.
“Kanunay Ga Alagad sa Katawhan” ug “Kanunay Matinud-anon,” Uy said, highlighting the city’s effort to assist taxpayers.
Starting tomorrow, unpaid obligations will face stiff penalties. Late payments incur a 2% interest per month (up to 72%) and a surcharge of up to 25% on the basic RPT.
