LONG lines were spotted at malls across the city over the weekend, causing a standstill at its entrances.

It was found that the reason for such gridlock was the influx of visitors coming from provinces outside Misamis Oriental.

They were stopped by the guards because they were not registered in the Higalaay app, a primary requirement for access to all business establishments in the city.

Even presenting their vaccination cards was not enough to obtain access, and they were advised to register to the Higalaay App.

The mall guards were able to assist those concerned in logging in to the app online using their phones and were finally granted access.

There were some, however, who grumbled about the whole scenario.

Rommel, who was just passing through.

“I have an S Pass which was sufficient for my whole trip from Butuan to this city, and I also have my vaccination card as well as Vaxx Cert, yet they’re still not enough,” he lamented.

Another person also complained that he was able to pass through another nearby mall by just telling them he was from out of town.

“I just showed them my vaccination card and an ID,” he said.
