PANGANTUCAN Mayor Miguel Silva Jr. was arrested on February 2, in Compostela, Davao de Oro, for alleged sexual assault and statutory rape.
Silva, 59, was apprehended around 10 pm by the Bukidnon Provincial Police Office, with assistance from the Compostela Municipal Police Station led by PLt. Col. Jesser Vagilidad IV.
The arrest followed a warrant issued on Dec. 10, 2024, by the Regional Trial Court Branch 9 in Malaybalay City, signed by Presiding Judge Maria Theresa Aban Cammanong, according to Rappler.
Silva faces two counts of sexual assault, with bail set at P100,000, and one count of statutory rape, a non-bailable offense.
The mayor, who is also running for Bukidnon governor, had reportedly gone into hiding after the warrant was issued until his capture last Friday.
