Authorities in Maguindanao del Norte seized around 2,483 cases of smuggled cigarettes valued at approximately ₱106,232,672 during a joint law enforcement operation on January 6, 2026.
The operation was conducted by the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) in coordination with the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
The smuggled cigarettes were found buried within the premises of an alleged warehouse in Barangay Gumagadong Calawag, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.
The seizure constitutes violations of Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act) and Republic Act No. 12022 (Anti-Agricultural and Economic Sabotage Act).
All recovered items were inventoried and turned over to the BOC for proper documentation, case build-up, and lawful disposition.
Further investigation is ongoing to identify and prosecute those responsible.
