Power consumers may see higher transmission charges in their February 2026 electricity bills following an increase in rates for the January billing period, according to a press advisory from Mae Roselle L. Curiano, Government Relations and Regional Affairs Officer of the Public Relations Department of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.
The overall average transmission rate increased by 13.55%, rising to Php1.5279 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) from Php1.3455/kWh. This adjustment is reflected in bills issued this month.
A major component of the rate is the Ancillary Services (AS) charge, which now stands at P0.6736/kWh.
AS covers backup and support services needed to keep the power grid stable. These services are sourced from the reserve market and from providers with bilateral contracts with NGCP.
Meanwhile, the company’s transmission wheeling rate — or the cost of delivering electricity through the grid — is P0.6921/kWh.
“For the February 2026 electric bill of power consumers, NGCP charges only around 69 centavos per kWh for the delivery of its services,” the company said, adding that its revenues are regulated and capped by the Energy Regulatory Commission.
Transmission charges for the January billing period are passed on to end-users through distribution utilities and electric cooperatives.
