SELDOM it happens for any golfer to score a hole-in-one, even in international events.
However, a namesake of a popular basketball player in the locality Andrew Neri recently achieved such a feat over at the Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club in Cagayan de Oro City.
“It’s a headache for the sponsors when a participant scored a hole-in-one because it always has a special prize for it. But we can do nothing when it happened,” said Andrew Donggay, Chief Operations Officer and General Manager of Greenergy, in co-sponsoring the Engr. Ariel T. Cayanan Cup Golf and Fellowship attracted a good number of par busters and enthusiasts around Northern Mindanao.
Donggay, however, clarified the winner is the golf-loving businessman Andrew Neri and not the former basketball stalwart of the Xavier University varsity team.
A ‘hole-in-one’ occurs when a player gets his golf ball into the cup on the green with just one stroke.
For making it, Greenergy awarded a Solar Energy system prize to Neri.
“It’s an honor and pleasure to be sharing the gift of renewable energy, our solar energy package,” Donggay said during the culmination rites, congratulating the lucky Neri.
The solar prize is a 3kW On-Grid System which will give Neri savings from his residential electric bill.
Since 2008, Donggay told Gold Star Daily that Greenergy is active in the promotion and development of renewable energy power generation in Mindanao.
“We were the first private company in the region to offer solar rooftop installation services with the launching of Greenergy Solar in 2010. Greenergy is also a Department of Energy-accredited Energy Service Company and an ISO 9001:2015 certified company,” Donggay added.
