THE City Assessment Department of Cagayan de Oro is preparing to distribute over 350,000 notices of property assessment starting this coming June 2, 2025.
These notices will be sent to landowners, machinery owners, and property owners listed within the city’s records.
City Assessor Atinodoro A. Asequia announced Thursday that department personnel will conduct house-to-house visits to personally deliver the notices to property owners.
This activity is mandated by law and is part of the General Revision on Real Properties set to be implemented by the city in 2026.
The update of market values is in accordance with City Ordinance No. 14900-2024, which provides the revised schedule of market values for real properties in Cagayan de Oro.
Asequia explained that current valuations of properties are still undervalued compared to their true market value since the last update was in 2008.
Therefore, a new assessment is necessary to ensure accurate property valuations and proper tax collection. Correctly assessing property values will also help increase revenue for vital city projects, particularly in education through the Special Education Fund (SEF).
Asequia called on property owners for cooperation, especially those affected by the new valuation, to facilitate a smooth process and contribute fairly to the city’s development.
The distribution of notices is expected to continue until the end of June, and property owners are encouraged to respond or coordinate with the City Assessment Department for further information.
