THE Asian Peoples’ Movement for Debt and Development will organize a Bike Action for Climate activity which will be held simultaneously with regional partners in Pakistan, India, Indonesia, and other countries on October 24 at 6 am.
They aim to highlight the importance of the goal of keeping global temperatures below 1.5 °C by using cycling as an example of an alternative and more sustainable form of transportation and to broaden awareness of the Conference Of Parties 26 for this year and the renewed calls for real zero emissions by 2050.
The Philippine Movement for Climate Justice (PMCJ) will also participate by mobilizing bikers, in groups or individuals, around the country with participants calling for climate justice and demands for a call to end fossil fuel use.
Here in Mindanao, they have organized bikers in the cities of Davao and Ozamiz, and a Trisikad Caravan in Cagayan de Oro City to participate in this event.
The Trisikad Caravan, here in Cagayan de Oro, will be spearheaded by the Youth for Climate Justice Cagayan de Oro, the youth arm of the PMCJ with calls for the government’s response to the climate emergency.
The route they will take will be from the trisikad alley beside the United Church of Christ in the Philippines and will loop around Barangay Consolacion and back to the staging point.
