AS a preemptive measure anticipating the landfall of Typhoon Uwan, at least 246 families, or 895 individuals, have evacuated across flood-prone barangays here, according to data forwarded by City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) Head Nick Jabagat.
The figures were current as of 10 pm Sunday.
Barangay Pagatpat reported the largest number of evacuees, with 110 families, or 431 individuals, staying at the Pagatpat Elementary School. The pre-evacuation center in Barangay Bayabas, meanwhile, houses 58 families, or 205 individuals.
Other affected areas include:
Bulua: 10 families, or 62 people, at its covered court.
San Simon: 8 families, or 25 individuals, at San Simon Integrated School.
Bonbon: 7 families, or 26 individuals, at the barangay evacuation center.
Canitoan: 53 families, or 146 individuals, at its evacuation site.
In a social media post, the City Information Office noted that the City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWD) has distributed canned goods and bags of rice to the affected families.
The CSWD also assisted in gathering profile information of the evacuees, while the barangay rescue team managed the community kitchen for the families’ meals.
Typhoon Uwan remains on its forecast track and continues to bring moderate rainfall to the city.
