By LITO RULONA, Correspondent At least six suspected members of an organized crime group responsible for the series of motorcycle thieveries and carnapping here in the city and nearby municipalities have been arrested Wednesday dawn. The suspects were arrested following two separate carnapping incidents were reported Wednesday in two parking areas along Northern Mindanao Medical Center and along Velez Streets, this city. Divisoria Police Station station chief Senior Insp. Maricris Mulat identified the suspects as Ismael Alil; Mahed Mutilan; Mansawi Lantong; Anwar Aluyudan; Ansano Guro Alim, and Amerodin Acmad, all residents in Marawi City. The two motorcycle thieves were caught in the act of stealing at NMMC’s parking area and was Mahed Mutilan Rajamuda Managa, 18, and a resident of Mercy Street, Macayo, Iligan City and Esmael Jamla Calen, 18, and a resident of Barangay Lilod, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur. Mulat said based on the CCTV footages from previous incidents show the suspects use a red Toyota Revo driven by another suspect also identified as Anwar Sangko Aloyodan, 31, and a resident of Tambo Bayog, Iligan City. She said after a long surveillance and operation conducted, they were able to track down the suspects who were about to steal another motorcycle along the parking park in front of NMMC. She said initial investigation reveals that the suspects tampered the wiring and used improvised keys to start the engines. “On their way out from the area, PO2 Segundino Mariano and PO1 Vermont Rebusora, who were observing the suspects from a distance, immediately blocked the suspects,” she said. During the apprehension, police immediately conducted an investigation that led to the unveiling of the hideouts of the other suspects located at Sta. Cecilia, Barangay Gusa, this city, she added. A follow-up operation conducted led to the arrest of Mansawe Alayodan Lantong, 35; Amerodin Macalamcom Acmad, 18 and Ansano Calapardo Guro Alem, 37 and the confiscation of one Red Toyota Revo bearing plate number AEJ-567 and three other suspected carnapped motorcycles. During the operation, police also recovered two sachets of suspected shabu inside the hideouts, illegal drug paraphernalia and improvised keys.    . Mulat said they already filed a formal complaint before the City Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday.
