Residents in Northern Mindanao may soon benefit from improved transportation, stronger power supply, and better regional connectivity as the government pushes major infrastructure projects across the region.
During the 145th Full Council Meeting of the Regional Development Council-10 (RDC-X) and the 2026 State of the Region Address (SORA) held June 29 at University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo Jr. called for stronger support for the RDC to help sustain Northern Mindanao’s long-term development.
Lagdameo highlighted several major projects expected to boost economic activity and improve mobility in the region, including the modernization of Laguindingan Airport, the nearing completion of Bukidnon Airport, the rehabilitation of the Agus-Pulangi Hydropower Complex, the development of Sultan Naga Dimaporo Port, and the proposed Central Mindanao High Standard Highway.
According to Lagdameo, these projects could create more opportunities for businesses, improve transport access, strengthen energy supply, and support long-term regional growth.
He emphasized that strong coordination among national agencies, local government units, the private sector, and development partners remains essential to move priority projects forward.
“The President has consistently emphasized that growth must be felt by ordinary Filipinos.
Economic gains are meaningful only when they translate into greater opportunities for every family,” Lagdameo said.
He added that continued support for the RDC is important in ensuring that major infrastructure programs are completed and sustained.
Lagdameo also reaffirmed the national government’s commitment to Northern Mindanao’s development agenda and encouraged stakeholders to continue strengthening partnerships that directly benefit communities.
“As we move forward, let us continue to build on the gains we have achieved. Let us remain open to new ideas, strengthen our partnerships, and keep our focus on improving the lives of the people we have all been called to serve,” he said.
