MISS Teen Iligan Charity Inc. continues its mission of shaping confidence, character and leadership among Iligan youth as it celebrates its 32nd anniversary.
Randy Palomar Salcedo of Salcedo Production said the pageant has long served as a platform for young Iliganons ages 13 to 19 to showcase their talents, intelligence and passion for advocacy.
Since its founding in 1993, Miss Teen Iligan has produced empowered young women who have built successful careers — including nurses, doctors and flight attendants.
“The pageant is a stepping stone. When they join Miss Iligan or Miss Lanao, they are already confident and prepared to win,” Salcedo said.
He added that he is thankful to help provide opportunities for the youth.
“It has a big impact in terms of personality development and gaining self-confidence,” he said.
Candidates undergo a three-month training program covering catwalk skills, communication and personality development. After a three-phase screening, 20 young women were selected as official candidates this year.
On Sunday, Oct. 26, all 20 candidates were formally presented to media practitioners, where the top three were named Darlings of the Press.
Among them is 15-year-old Rachelle Love Coronado, a Grade 10 student from La Salle Academy and a resident of Barangay Sta. Elena.
“I’m very thankful for this opportunity to be chosen as one of the Darlings of the Press, even if I have a soft voice,” Coronado said.
If crowned Miss Teen Iligan, she hopes to use her voice to inspire fellow youth to believe in themselves.
She is also advocating mental health awareness, encouraging teens to avoid dwelling on negative thoughts and instead surround themselves with positive influences who can help them.
“They shouldn’t let negative thoughts consume them. They should enjoy life and be with positive people,” she said.
The Miss Teen Iligan 2025 coronation night is set for Dec. 13 at the Robinsons Atrium. Winners will receive cash prizes and trophies and will reign for two years.
