“NO privatization.”
This was the pronouncement of Misamis Oriental Provincial Administrator John Venice Ladaga on the just-ended power consumer energy forum between the Moresco and other stakeholders held in Gingoog City on Friday.
Today (February 24), Ladaga explained that the power consumers forum was not designed to enter an agreement with the Meralco, instead, it’s a collaborative effort of the provincial government to serve as a moderator to address brownout issues in the 1st District of Misamis Oriental.
He said they recognized the idea that there is importance on the supply of energy especially since Misamis Oriental Governor Peter Unabia is expecting several investors in the province including the Mega World, and it is necessary to have enough and sufficient energy supply.
“Mao nga naa ta’y forum para mahimong platform, diskasyon sa mga stakeholders sa industry and policy makers,” said Ladaga.
The provincial administrator admitted that there is a delegate coming from the Meralco but the latter has just presented and shared its best practices. Making it clear that in the next forum, they will be inviting another set of delegates.
“Nag share ang Meralco sa ilang best practices unsa ilang nahimo didto,” added Ladaga.
On the privatization claims, Ladaga said that the provincial government has no interest in privatization saying that the governor aimed to end the problem of power interruption.
“Ang iya nga mahuman ang mga isyu ug concern kabahin sa Moresco II, sa iyang services, matubag ang mga pangutana sa mga konsumidor,” said Ladaga.
Last week, Former Vice Governor Jose Mari Pelaez accused the provincial government of being the “broker” on the joint venture agreement between the Moresco and the Meralco.
