THE Sangguniang Bayan of Medina, led by Vice Mayor Paulo Magallanes, is advancing a proposed ordinance designed to provide guidance and support to students who have exited the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
The local law is intended as a crucial local government unit (LGU) intervention to sustain the gains of the national program.
SB Secretary Edan Mark Vosotros, who drafted the ordinance, said the measure aims to assist 4Ps students who have reached the end of their seven-year maximum schooling coverage under the program. This intervention includes facilitating assistance for these students should they wish to enroll in college.
The proposed ordinance also incorporates the continuous monitoring of the livelihood status of the exited 4Ps members.
Recila P. Burlat, the Municipal 4Ps team leader, first presented this goal to the Sangguniang Bayan during a regular session on Oct. 28.
However, Vosotros noted that the local 4Ps facilitators have yet to submit the official list of exited students to the Sangguniang Bayan. The list is essential, he said, as a basis for determining the proper funding required by the proposed law.
Vosotros added that the latest batch of graduated 4Ps student beneficiaries is estimated to be around 47.
