By NORA SORINO GSD-Iligan Bureau chief ILIGAN City––Acting mayor Ruderic Marzo over the weekend said he would step down, and allow detained Mayor Celso Regencia to assume office again only if the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) says so. Regencia, detained over charges he masterminded the ambush of Rep. Vicente Belmonte Jr. in December last year, has written to the city council about his plan to take back control of city hall today because Malacanang’s suspension order has lapsed. Marzo said he has no problems serving as vice mayor again but the matter would have to be decided by the interior department. Liberal Party candidate for councilor Moises Dalisay Jr., a lawyer, said Regencia cannot reassume as mayor of the city because of his detention. He said Regencia cannot run the affairs of the city in jail.
