CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — With the summer heat driving up electricity demand, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is urging consumers to adopt simple energy-saving habits to keep their monthly bills from skyrocketing.
NGCP Regional Information Officer Mae Curiano highlighted practical daily adjustments families can make under the campaign "Menos sa konsumo, menos sa gastos!" (Less consumption, less expenses).
1. Wipe down your bulbs
Dust and dirt accumulation can severely dim your lights, often tempting you to turn on additional fixtures. Curiano advises households to safely and thoroughly clean their lightbulbs regularly. Keeping them dust-free ensures maximum brightness without needing extra energy.
2. Make the switch to LED
If you are still using traditional incandescent bulbs, it is time for an upgrade. NGCP highly recommends switching to LED bulbs, which are **75% more economical and energy-efficient** than older models. While they might cost a little more upfront, the long-term savings on your electricity bill are massive.
