SPECIAL Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr. extended warm Ramadan greetings to Muslim communities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and across the country as the holy month began on Feb. 19.
In a press advisory, Lagdameo called for a peaceful and meaningful observance of Ramadan, acknowledging its profound spiritual significance to the Bangsamoro people and the wider Islamic community.
He expressed hope that the month of fasting, prayer, and reflection would usher in renewal and unity across the provinces of Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi.
“May this Holy Month bring spiritual renewal and further strengthen the bonds of unity that help us build a more peaceful and prosperous Bagong Pilipinas,” part of the emailed statement read.
Lagdameo’s office underscored the value of solidarity and shared responsibility, noting that Ramadan is not only a time of devotion but also an opportunity to deepen compassion, strengthen communities, and advance lasting peace in Mindanao.
Ramadan, one of the five pillars of Islam, is observed through fasting from dawn to sunset, intensified prayer, reflection, and acts of charity to assist those in need — reinforcing faith, discipline, and social responsibility within Muslim communities nationwide.
