CAGAYAN de Oro mayoralty candidate Jose Gabrielle ‘Pompee’ La Viña and his team opened the first day of the local campaign by hearing mass and a caravan today.
At 6:30 am, they heard a mass at San Antoñio de Padua Church in Nazareth and started their caravan at 7:30 am. They then proceeded with a hand-shaking session in Carmen Public Market.
With him were 2nd District Representative Rufus Rodriguez; Lordan Suan, who is vying for the city's 1st District, Joycelyn ‘Bebot’ Rodriguez, and the rest of their slate.
Yesterday, La Viña said that he is well-prepared and now at ease that the election campaign has already started. He believes that he is the change that the people of Cagayan de Oro have been waiting for.
His plans include a city university, a 24-hour night café beside the Cagayan River.
Meanwhile, in the next four days, La Viña’s team will also have their caravan in the city’s 80 barangays.
He said he will be supporting the vice-presidential candidate Sara Duterte because he is also a member of Lakas-CMD.
As to the President, he said he will have a talk to Ferdinand Marcos Jr. by the first week of April.
“Ang coalition namo akoy mag decide kinsa’y Presidential ug Vice-presidential regardless that Rufus (Rodriguez who supported Leni Robredo) nananghid man sya pero ang sabot namo is ako ang magbuot sa city, si Unabia (Pedro) ang magboot sa province (Misamis Oriental) kinsa ang i-endorse,” explained La Viña.
He said he and Unabia will have to talk to Marcos first and said that they already have their schedule for the said meeting by the first week of April.
“Mag istorya mi face to face. Ang akong choice is not just the choice of personal Pompee, kung personal Pompee basin akong choice di makadaug, but for being a mayor you have to think of 700,000 people of CDO,” he said.
La Viña said he sees nothing wrong if his mayoralty rival Rolando Uy is also supporting Marcos.
