Gingoog City — Deciding he has had enough, a jealous husband hacked his neighbor to death, the chief of police here said Tuesday.
Supt. Roel Lami-ing, city police chief, identified the fatality as Andres Villamor, 48, single, and a resident of Barangay Kamanikan, this city.
Investigation showed that at about 6 pm on Nov. 13, suspect Aseson Gelbuena, 46, married, hacked Villamor in different parts of his body with a 20-inch bolo. Villamor died on the spot.
After the hacking Villamor, the police report added, Gelbuena walked the seven kilometer distance from their barangay to an Army detachment in Barangay Sio-an where he surrendered.
Gelbuena told police he had enough of Villamor’s taunting and claimed the latter tried to hack him first.
“Giunhan ko og tigbas ni Villamor nga hubog kaayo samtang diha ko sa balay sa akong silingan og naigo akong tuo nga bukton ug kamot gamit iyang sundang. Maayo nalang kay naka likay ko sa sunod atake ug nakabunot ko sa akong sundang gikan sa sakuban,” he told the police.
Gelbuena claimed Villamor lived with his estranged wife near his house.
“Siya (Villamor) pa nangilog sa akong asawa nga miuban niya sugod adtong Oktobre 2015 ug nagtipon sila diha ra gihapon dool sa akong gipuy-an sa maong purok unya siya pa manguna tigbas nako,” Gelbuena complained while inside the police mini detention cell.
A day before the hacking incident, a 66 year-old man hacked his brother-in-law to death at about 6 pm Saturday in Purok 1 Barangay Samay this city the police authority said.
Lam-ing identified the hacking victim as Arturo Saballa, 60, single. Saballa succumbed to several wounds in different parts of his body, including one wound to his neck.
Lami-ing said they rushed the victim immediately to the Gingoog Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police identified the suspect as Carlito Odchigue, 66, married, a brother-in-law of the dead victim.
In a partial investigation conducted by the police showed that the victim was under influence of liquor during the incident. Witnesses told police Saballa punched Odchigue several times.
“Akong gitigbas ang biktima tungod na sa akong kaulit kay sige na ug balik-balik panghanggat nako,” claimed Odchigue.
