A Bureau of Jail Management and Penology officer driving his motorcycle along the National Highway near Mulogan, El Salvador City when he met and collided with a delivery van going in the opposite direction Tuesday afternoon.

JO1 Joren Macapas Paderanga, 23, single, a resident of Gusa, Cagayan De Oro City and assigned to the BJMP facility in Gingoog City, sustained serious physical injuries in different parts of his body as a result of the collision.

He was initially rushed to the El Salvador Lying-in Clinic but was later transferred to the Polymedic Plaza Hospital in Kauswagan, this city where he was declared dead on arrival.

The delivery van, driven by Edgar Bagas Dadang, 53, a resident of Barra, Opol sustained damage on its front left side. The van, coming from the west, was encroaching on the lane of the motorcycle, going east, which resulted in the van hitting the motorcycle and dragging it to the second lane, with the van stopping at the outermost lane facing west. The motorcycle sustained extensive damage as a result.

It was noted in the police investigator’s report that Dadang was under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident. Both vehicles involved in the collision were brought to the El Salvador Police Station, with Dadang also brought into custody for case filing.
