ILIGAN City government, led by Mayor Frederick W. Siao, has issued Executive Order No. 151, series of 2025, suspending classes at all levels, both public and private, on Nov. 4 due to the anticipated impact of Severe Typhoon Tino (international name Kalmaegi).
The decision follows warnings from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Weather bulletins indicate that Tropical Cyclone Tino is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds, which could lead to flooding, landslides, and other hazards in Iligan City and nearby areas.
Prioritizing the safety of students, teachers, and school personnel, the class suspension is a precautionary measure against the potential risks posed by the weather disturbance.
The suspension was recommended by the Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (ICDRRMC) during a special emergency meeting held on Nov. 3.
Meanwhile, work in government offices will continue unless otherwise announced. Heads of offices are directed to use their discretion in excusing personnel affected by the weather disturbance from reporting to work when necessary.
All offices and agencies involved in public safety, health, disaster response, electrical services, and road management are directed to remain on alert. They must take the necessary precautionary, response, and relief measures to ensure the safety and welfare of the public.
