Iligan City on ‘blue alert’ as ST Uwan continues to bring rain, flooding threat

THE Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ICDRRMO) is advising all residents, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone barangays, to remain vigilant as the region continues to experience the effects of Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong).

Based on the latest weather bulletin, light to occasional moderate rains or thunderstorms are expected across Northern Mindanao.

In Iligan City, rivers and their tributaries — especially Mandulog and Agus — may still be affected by increased water levels. Residents near riverbanks, mountain slopes, and flood-prone areas are encouraged to take necessary precautionary measures.

The ICDRRMO has coordinated with all barangays across the city to ensure continuous monitoring of water levels and flooding risks. Barangay officials have been instructed to provide timely updates and alerts to their communities.

Earlier today, Mayor Frederick Siao issued an advisory declaring the city in a ‘blue alert status’ following Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No. 3 for Typhoon Uwan issued by DOST-Pagasa.

All response units are on standby, and emergency assets have been prepositioned for rapid response.

Residents are urged to stay informed, follow local advisories, and report any rising water or potential hazards immediately.

The city government reminds the public to prioritize safety, avoid crossing flooded areas, and cooperate with local authorities. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
