By BEN SERRANO Correspondent BUTUAN City––Officials of the Department of Health (DOH) in Caraga claimed they were unaware about a decision to uphold the suspension order against the Butuan Doctors’ Hospital over the death of a 10-year old girl last year. The DOH's Bureau of Health Facilities and Regulatory Services upheld an earlier ruling against the hospital as it denied the BDH's motion for reconsideration. Outgoing DOH Caraga director Minerva Molon and DOH regional spokesperson Cheryl Mary Plaza said they have no knowledge on the Bureau's latest ruling. Molon, who would leave for her new assignment at the DOH regional office in Tacloban, said she has not even seen a copy of the ruling. The Bureau has slapped BDH with a 30pday suspension order based on its findings in connection with an investigation into the death of January Chan last year. The girl was alledgedly refused admittance over her parents' failure to give the hospital a downpayment. Chan's mother Remedios said the bureau's director, lawyer Nicolas Lutero II, issued the April 1 order, denying the motion and upholding the Bureau's March 9 resolution against BDH. She said her husband Gregory secured a copy of the order. Chan said she was informed the order new regional director was expected to be told yesterday about the Bureau's ruling.
