MONEY scam through Facebook account hacking has counted another set of victims in Barangay Bonbon chairwoman Lelit Baal-Molina and some of her Council and Staff members and Zone leaders.
Baal-Molina, whose coastal barangay had just successfully hosted the traditional TambaNipa Festival, was accompanied by her treasurer and a handful of fellow victims in bringing their cases to the office of the National Bureau of Investigation in Cagayan de Oro City recently.
“We’re determined to cooperate in the investigation and file formal charges if only to identify and apprehend the suspects aron mahunong kini nga tinunto ug dili madugangan sa lain pa nga mabiktima,” the Bonbon chieftain later told Gold Star Daily.
Baal-Molina revealed her FB account was hacked on Tuesday when the hackers started collecting money through Gcash from victims which now amounted to over P20,000.
“I was expecting that it was Kap Lelit herself who asked a favor from me to lend her money through my Gcash kay iyang FB account man ang ni pop-out sa among convo sa messenger. Kabalo sab ang hacker sa among tawagay nga Mars,” said her Zone 9 leader Susan Tabanao, who squandered her hard-earned P8,900 savings from her personal Gcash account.
Tabanao, who dabbles in online selling of quality bags for female customers, said she did not mind calling Baal-Molina first for verification “kay nakapa-gcash na siya before sa ako nga ma-refund man dayon though dili parehas karon nga dako ang kantidad.”
For his part, Bonbon Kagawad Irvin Paul Paasa said he easily consented to send P7,800 upon the instruction of Baal-Molina’s FB messenger to the Gcash account of a certain ‘Teresita Flores’ out of complacency.
“Kumpyansa lang gyod. Lesson learned. Advance pinaskohan na lang sa hacker,” was all Paasa could say.
Baal-Molina had already messaged her Bonbon constituents through the Barangay Bonbon Council FB Page to block her old account and to not entertain any request from “her” asking for money through cash transactions.
“I hope and pray nga ma-trace sa NBI ang personal account ining hacker o mga hackers aron madakpan ug masilotan sa atong balaod. Grabe ka perwisyo kining ilang binuhatan,” a visibly-upset Baal-Molina said.
