CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The national government joined the Muslim community in celebrating Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan with a renewed call for unity, peace, and mutual respect among Filipinos.
In an emailed advisory, Anton Lagdameo Jr. relayed Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s message of solidarity to Bangsamoro and Muslim communities across the country.
Highlighting the resilience and devotion of the Muslim Ummah, Lagdameo said the discipline and sacrifice shown during Ramadan serve as an inspiration to all Filipinos.
In Cagayan de Oro City, members of the Muslim community are preparing to mark the occasion with dawn prayers, family gatherings, and charity activities.
Local mosques will host congregational prayers at dawn, while families share traditional meals and distribute alms to the poor to mark the celebration.
Muslim leaders in the city said the occasion is both a spiritual and communal celebration that emphasizes forgiveness, gratitude, and solidarity with those in need.
“Eid’l Fitr reminds us that beyond our differences, we are one nation guided by faith, respect, and a shared vision for peace. May the spirit of Ramadan strengthen our unity and commitment to uplift every Filipino,” Lagdameo said.
He also urged communities to continue working together to promote mutual respect and development, particularly in areas striving for long-term peace and stability.
In a separate message, Marcos emphasized the values of compassion, discipline, and spiritual reflection, saying the lessons of Ramadan should guide Filipinos in building a more inclusive nation.
He added that Eid al-Fitr is not only a celebration but also a reminder of the shared responsibility to foster understanding among people of different faiths.
