GINGOOG City Mayor Erick G. Cañosa began his third term in office after taking his oath Monday morning, June 30, at the inaugural and oath ceremony held at the Arturo Lugod Gym. He vowed to continue his previous programs.
The local leader of Gingoog City Palace stated that he will continue programs started during his previous terms, including basic services such as education, scholarship programs, livelihood, health and agriculture.
Mayor Cañosa said that additional programs will be implemented, focusing on infrastructure. These include the expansion of the Agora Market Building and the establishment of farmers’ trading posts in the city.
Mayor Cañosa also stated he is working to ensure Gingoog has its own hospital.
He assured residents that he will continue programs that have already benefited the people of the city. He added that because of their support in the last election, these initiatives are expected to continue.
Mayor Cañosa thanked the people of Gingoog for trusting him and granting him an additional term of service.
“Atong pasalamatan atong Diyos nga makagagahum sa gihatag kanato nga dugang termino isip mayor sa syudad sa Gingoog ug mapasalamaton usab kita sa atong katawhan ning atong pinalanggang dakbayan sa pagsalig ug kumpyansa nga gihatag sa ato nga mangulo sa atong suidad,” he said.
In the midterm election, Cañosa (Lakas) won with 68,934 votes, while Ernesto Marco (PDP Laban) received 7,738.
For his part, re-elected City Councilor Jerome Magan also expressed gratitude to all Gingoognons who trusted him for another term.
“Taliwala sa kakulangon sa pundo sa piliay apan nagpabilin sa gihapon ang pagsalig sa katawhan kanato,” he said.
