Gingoog city folk, officials honor late former mayor

GINGOOG City--The late former mayor Romulo Rodriguez was honored with a 21-gun salute here hours ahead of his cremation at the Divine Shepherd in Cagayan de Oro.
Many balloons were also released to the air after a requiem mass attended by this city’s political figures, including Mayor Marie Guingona and Vice Mayor Erick Cañosa.
A night earlier, Rodriguez’s wake was held at this city’s quadrangle.
The former city mayor died at the Capitol University Medical Center in Cagayan de Oro in Feb. 10.
Before the body of the late mayor was moved back to Cagayan de Oro for cremation, his widow Remedios thanked the people who supported her husband during his political career in Gingoog.
