A fire in Gingoog City on Tuesday afternoon, August 26, destroyed three houses, causing an estimated P1.5 million in damage. No injuries were reported.

The fire broke out at 2:41 pm on Jadol Street in Barangay 17, completely damaging two houses and partially damaging a third.

Fire Investigator SFO2 Andrew Gatasi of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the affected houses, which were a mix of concrete and light materials, belonged to Maribel Berdelao, Ester Buhisan, and Pursia Salem.

Six fire trucks from the BFP, the Clean Fire Auxiliary Group (CFAG), and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office responded to the blaze.

Assistant City Engineer Lemuel Remegoso, who heads the CFAG, said firefighters’ quick response prevented the fire from spreading to nearby houses.

The fire was declared out at 4:00 pm. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
