WE are four working women. We met in our early 30s.
We came from different schools in different parts of the region. We never knew each other before becoming office mates. We share the same friends, yet, not even had the chance of a meeting.
We have different personalities, and our love for coffee is our common ground. And how we drink our coffee is somehow reflective of our character.
As mentioned in my pilot article, I love my coffee, black. Meet Zee, who loves coffee with sugar in it. Like her coffee, she's highly energized — in a sugar rush. Stella loves to drink it with cream. Well, just like cream, she's warm-fuzzy, sentimental. And Judee loves her coffee with everything in it. She's imaginative and always open to helping others, the perfect blend for her job.
How we take our coffee may differ and reflects our differing characters. However, we share one defining trait, independent and strong-willed women.
At work, we also share the same mantra of delivering good customer service. We serve not because we get something out of it. We do it because we owe it to them. During our telecom days, we often disagree with sales, but we always win because delighting customers always do.
Our love for coffee and good customer service extended to books, cocktails, and SATC. The latter is one series that the four of us often relate to. We refer to each other as one character in the series, failing to realize that each of the characters is innate in each of us.
We all love to be Carrie, but basically, the strong-willed in us comes out. That's when Miranda steps in. The maternal instinct in all forms is what represents Charlotte. Nevertheless, there will always be that ID in us, our subconscious and most impulsive selves. Well, you got it, the Samantha in us.
That's the story of the Four Women and a Coffee in a TelCo. Our day starts with a coffee and ends with a cocktail.
