FORMER Gingoog City Mayor Marie de Lara Guingona died at the age of 61 early Monday morning, June 16, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig, Metro Manila, where she had been brought the night before.
Guingona had been battling stage 4 colon cancer, according to a report posted on her official Facebook page on March 3.
She served as mayor of Gingoog from 2013 to 2022, succeeding her mother, former Mayor Ruth Guingona, who had reached the end of her term.
As of press time, the family has not yet decided whether the former mayor’s remains will be brought back to Gingoog.
