By EDWIN IYO, Correspondent Gingoog City — Farmers in this city are now getting worried as their production of crops continue to dive due to the on going dry spell here. Merlina Berdelao City Agriculturist said the production of crops specially rice and corn would be affected as the dry spell already experienced here since the first week of this month. Berdelao said it will be expected that during harvest time of crops in this coming harvest season on April, May, and June, this year would go down. Newly planted banana cardava in an area of 60 hectares will alao affected its growing she said Rice 600 hectares, while corn 700 hectares areas respectively The existing planted crops like lakatan and latondan have a totat of 400 hectares in scattered area throughout the city and other crops to include camote would also affected, Berdelao added. She said the city agriculture office here have recorded four metric tons per hectares of rice during harvest in a recent harvest seasons Corn have 3 to 4 metric tons per hectares she said.
