THE Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has taken a strong stance against poultry farms in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental, that are violating environmental regulations.

Following a joint complaint affidavit submitted by residents, the EMB conducted a technical meeting with poultry farm owners and local government officials, revealing that only 12 out of 24 farms have valid permits and clearances.

In a letter on Nov 17, 2025, from EMB regional director Reynaldo Digamo said, these farms have failed to secure necessary permits and certificates, including Wastewater Discharge Permits and Hazardous Waste Generator Registration Certificates.

The EMB has issued a Notice of Violation (NOV) with Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) suspension to six farms, namely:

  1. Dayrit Poultry Farm-Poultry Broiler Farm/TrueChefs Choice, Inc. at Barangay Cogon (ECC Reference No. ECC-R 10-0907-080-1220)
  2. Ting Poultry Farm at Barangay Cogon (ECC Reference No. ECC-R10-1003-0050)
  3. Antivo Farm at Barangay Hinigdaan (ECC Reference No. ECC-OL-R10-2020-0035)
  4. Felmer Poultry Farm at Barangay Amoros (ECC Reference No. 95-ECC-PF-1043-616)
  5. Joedino Roger’s Panunce Farm at Barangay Amoros (ECC Reference No. 10(43)0309-083379-12211)
  6. B.A.S.E. Poultry Farm at Barangay Amoros (ECC Reference No. 10(43)9902-231441-1210)

The EMB has given the violating farms 10 days to explain why they should not be penalized with a fine of up to P50,000 for every violation.

According to the EMB-10, the ECC suspension requires the farms to cease operations until they comply with environmental regulations.

The EMB’s action demonstrates the government’s commitment to environmental justice and protecting the rights of citizens to a healthy and sustainable environment.
