PHILIPPINE National Police Chief Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, today, warned police officers from being partisan in the coming National and Local Elections.
“Ipakita natin ang ating pagiging non-partisan, every three years dumarating ang ganitong sitwasyon (election). Naglabas na tayo nang mga diriktiba sa ating commanders (on) the ground na gawin na ang lahat nang paghahanda,” he told Northern Mindanao police officers.
Eleazar is in town today to grace the 120th founding anniversary of Police Regional Office-10 at Camp Vicente Alagar in Lapasan, this city. This year, the PRO-10 is bannering the theme, “Hangad na kalinisan sa kapulisan at komunidad: Ibayong gampanan para sa pangkapulisang integridad.”
He said he has already deployed police officers to known election hotspots to secure the people in the said areas.
Today is the first and last visit of Eleazar to Camp Alagar before he retires from service three weeks from now.
“Hindi lang ito pagdalaw, ito’y pamamaalam na because this is my last time, in three weeks time I will be going out in the service,” Eleazar said.
One of the reasons for Eleazar’s visit is to check, not only the security aspect of the region but also the health aspect of PNP personnel and to see to it that their programs are being implemented.
He said upon his arrival in Cagayan de Oro he saw the enthusiasm and dedication of the police personnel here.
Eleazar has been in police service for 38 years and has been the PNP chief for five months.
Earlier today, he inspected Police Station 3 in Agora, Lapasan, and appreciated the cleanliness of the said precinct.
“Nakita ko ang police station, hindi man sya yong sinasabi nating standard subalit nakita ko sa loob sa labas, sa paligid, sa taas, sa baba, malinis ang police station,” Eleazar said.
He added that this is what every police station should be.
“The police stations are the windows of the soul of the Philippine National Police,” Eleazar said.
Cleanliness in police stations is important, he said, because this is where the police officers face victims of crime.
“Kung pagpunta sila doon ay dapat hindi magulo, madumi (ang police station). Malinis na kagamitan, malinis na opisina, malinis na pag-iisip, malinis na paglilingkod sa ating bayan,” Eleazar pointed out.
Also present in the event were Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano, Gingoog City Mayor Erick Cañosa, and Opol Mayor Maximino Seno.
